I like the idea that souls are fused as they enter into the merge of finance. The commerce of words and ideas may also be a kind of finance. This poem touches an idea I often wonder about. Is poetry a cold medium that distances people, or is it a warm passageway to join hearts? The poet is a custodian of language, so he/she surely wouldn't want it to turn cold. But he goes off alone and seeks an extreme edge of language. He defends the aerie of his achievement, so the birds on his hat are looking angry. Doesn't that put him in danger of making his language cold? I love the term of address Your lightness! In some ways, it is admirable, but also a reminder that the soul could go adrift.
