What They Don'T Tell Us Poem by Dannielle Smedley

What They Don'T Tell Us

Rating: 5.0

They always say 'build a bridge and get over it'
Whenever we're down,
When we can't even pick ourselves up,
From off the ground.

So how am I supposed to build a bridge
When I don't have the strength in mind?
If I'm so unhappy,
Wanting to press rewind.

They say 'oh, cry me a river'
Whenever we feel offended or upset,
Why can't they just be nice
And help us forget.

So how am I supposed to cry you a river,
When I've already cried the entire sea,
Oh,
Why oh why must this be?

They always say 'eat some concrete, and harden up'
Whenever we cry or can't handle the pain,
They think it's that easy,
Like a simple video game.

but how am I supposed to eat some concrete and harden up,
When I'm as weak as a kitten, no, even less,
You don't understand,
I'm such a mess.

They always say 'just be yourself'
Whenever we need some advice,
To help us deal
With the things in our life.

But how am I supposed to be myself,
When I can't even stand my own reflection,
And everyone always judges me,
I feel so much neglect-ion...

What they don't tell us is they're always there,
When that's all we really need,
Is someone who says they really care.
