What We Do Not.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

What We Do Not....

she appears as a lesbian
no make-up, plain jacket, black
and short hair, and here she is
making an exhortation for the
protection of women's rights.

i still have admiration for what
she is and what she is protecting.
a desert dreaming for an ocean and
a forest is as natural as a man's right.
sometimes we are for what we do not do.
In the same manner, we can still be
despite the fact of what we do not.
