What You Keep Poem by RACHEL ZARANTONELLO

What You Keep

Rating: 5.0

Smile like an idiot
Laugh like you are insane
A crazy to match mine
a madness I dare not explain
I smile and pretend it doesn't matter
as I turn and walk away
with tears in my eyes- silent
wishing you wanted to stay
if you do not let the past die
it will not let you live
Be the reason for someone's smile
you've so much more than pain to give
Each day I'm thankful although
consumed by emptiness and pain
I may not be what you keep
but in my heart always you remain
memories are those moments you keep
yours alone they'll always be
I simply wanted to have some fun
making new memories for you. with me.
