Whats The Point Being Here? ? Poem by D.A. Woods

Whats The Point Being Here? ?

Not once had I asked to be born,
not even through ressurection, but yet I'm thrown,
into the shell of some useless body,
reflects a thing....that's not me.

who am I first and foremost?
I was a breeze along a coast,
Cut me open, I shall not bleed,
instead reveal to you, my true creed.

I am nothing more than one of lifes parasites,
turned out more dangerous than a snake bite,
to me, where I am is nothing more than a set back,
once I'm gone...may I never come back.

To live here with this fear, hurt and deceit,
young children dying at their mothers feet,
we all need to return to where we are from and vastly retreat,
I'd give up this life in a heartbeat! ! !

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

No one asked to be born I think, but existence is not life. The poem wallows in emptiness and its message conveys hopelessness and lack of purpose in life. It leaves the reader feeling worthless and defeated. I refuse to accept the fact that man came from the amoeba - I believe in the more noble virtues of man- Love, dignity, freedom, honor, true friendship, and God. That makes the difference between genuine living and mere existence.
