When? Poem by Maureen Adair

When?

Rating: 5.0

Lord they are hurting, in pain,
they refuse to leave this dark torcherous rain.

they refuse to turn and see the sunlight,
to grasp your hand and be pulled out of the night.

they gasp, iron bands on their chest,
blood drying, soul shattered, tortured by unrest.

when will this destruction stop, cease?
when will the hurt will heal in peace?

why oh why do they turn away from you lord?
do they not know to escape this hell they can afford?

do they not know how much you value them, that for them you weep?
that to hold them forever, that you crave to always have them in safetys keep.

to wash their wounds to put on salve to quench their thirst,
that to do this you want, and persuade them that they are not cursed.

to persuade that they are jewels oh so precious
and close to your heart,
that it kills you to be from them apart.

do they not hear you calling, pleading.
to come to your arms embrace and recieve the healing they are needing?

when will they let you wipe their tears,
to show their true destiny and destroy their fears.

when lord, when? how can i make them listen?

deeply touching...heaped with religious strengths and truisms... liked it :)

Let them be. the chances are. we don't have to kill our selves for people who are blind and deaf. Nicely written. keep it up.
