When All Laughter Has Faded Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

When All Laughter Has Faded

The lingering taste of life
Suffocated by the deafening silence
That envelops the street of life
Neither sweet nor sour
A mixture of fear and hopelessness
An absence of human emotion
Holds my heart in a tight grip
I have nothing else to do
But to pray for humanity
Let it be known
That the gates of mercy are ever open
And our prayers will be answered
Our hope will be restored
All fear will be wiped away
And humanity shall rise again
It's not a game
It is the path of light
Re-calibrating our hearts
Renewing our spirits
It might seem painful
But it's for our own sake
When all laughter has faded
We will know the truth
