When Disaster Strikes - Poem by David Dorby

Without warning, Disaster Strikes
Without a sign, Disaster Strikes
Without the chance to prepare ourselves, Disaster Strikes
Without time to evacuate, Disaster Strikes

Reach out to your brothers and give a helping hand
Reach out t your friends and give a helping hand
Reach out to the strangers and give a helping hand
Reach out to your enemies and give a helping hand

Be generous and give freely
Freely give and freely you shall receive

Do not ask why
Just say thank-you that the worst is over

Together we shall start over again
Together we shall bring hope to the victims
Together we shall strive to make tomorrow a better day
Together we shall unite when disaster strikes

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Disaster is a nightmare for everyone of us especially when we are affected but what about when others are affected and we have been spared from the ordeal. This is a poem of hope for the victims and it is aimed to touch the heart of those not affected to reach out.
