When Generations Sit Down Poem by Jim Boone

When Generations Sit Down

Knee to knee and youth and age agree
To listen and discuss without further
Touching or seduction innuendos
Learning and teaching can dance at
Any pace as the ‘polite, honest, athletic,
Intelligent, well-traveled, adventurous,
Younger man who is mature for his age'
Believes his peer group begins at 50 and
He ‘gets along best with much older men'
And is ‘looking for friends, dating and a
Relationship but Age should act our age
And don't be pushing any sexual agendas.'
Age then wonders if he should move his
Knee, but recalls that whomever touched
First, both are holding fast, so we will let
That one be and listen and reply as the
Dialogue between generations progresses
As athletic and authentic discuss some
Penetrating notions without any lube
For an aged US Poet Laureate Nominee
Believes he is all sexed out and if that
Happens again, it will be closer of 53.
Youth spouts on, as only Youth can do,
About unselfishness and openness to
The traveler, as Age recalls when he was
There and spends some time reflecting
On his own motivation twix then and now.
Vocal flow and poetic leanings may cause
Age and Youth to have some interesting
Dialogue or realizing that Youth, at a certain
Stage, is always on the hustle and Age, may,
Or may not be, receptive, willing or capable
Of giving what Youth wants before easing on
Down his path, when been-there-done-that
Determines if willing and able are pertinent
To fulfilling anything as he writes and reflects
About Youth and Age and motivation or chill time.
