When I Ball Poem by Marlene Rashidi

When I Ball

I don't play to lose, I play to win
to get victory and to represent my team.
'Aim for the hoop', coach would say, 'Yes, Sir'
I reply back. 'Make sure you balance yourself',
'Yes, Sir'. I feel like a beast more like a warrior.
I feel strong than ever before, I hoop for a reason.
It feel natural, real, and it feels like me.
Play hard or go home!
