When I Hear Poem by Edwina Reizer

When I Hear

When I hear your name,
when I hear its sound
my being is filled with happiness.
It's filled with leaps and bounds.

When I hear your name
excitement replaces calm.
It's only letters put together.
But they form a soothing balm.

It caresses my ear anew
and alerts my sense of you.
It lingers for a little while
as my heart skips a beat or two.

I write your name on paper.
I look at it and know
that I must say it aloud to myself,
say it soft and low.
