When I Loved Thee Poem by Edwina Reizer

When I Loved Thee

When I loved thee
'Twas not in vain.
I did not know
if it would remain?
When you loved me
exquisiteness came.
My heart was captured.
'Twas not the same.
For the firing flame
between us both
impelled in us
a lasting oath
to make love last
and never die,
To make love laugh
and never cry.
And so we moved
we two as one.
For we could not lose.
Love had won.
