When Light Breaks Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

When Light Breaks

The night that comes down like fate
dissipates with early morning light
rouses me to awareness that all
is not lost despite the clouds
that obscure and chill me
to the bone

then I have an idea that the god
who watches over forlorn souls
and dusty beggars in the road
may elude those IEDs
