When My Shadow Returns Poem by George Samuel

When My Shadow Returns

Rating: 4.0

Nearer at night,
Shadow nearer at night,
Soul be my life,
Spirit living in me,
These constantly I see..

Covered in blood!
Ruins I regret but whole,
Earth contains me,
Heaven restrained me,
Come calling in silence my name..

Farther, this shadows I know,
Drawn nearer like never before,
For my wish they're mine,
In numbers, fewer than nine,
There's a force that made them divine..

Mixed, not one is alike,
Hanging, not left to blink,
Slow entities, driven frail,
Holding on in one trail,
But passed now like a fading spray..
