When We Were Young And Now That We'Re Grown

* When we were young

The lack of experience made us naïve

So willing we are to hope and believe

To love so much your heart may break

Be consumed by the give and the take

Holding tight because it just felt right

Through troubles you’d always be alright

Feeling with your heart not your head

Sharing each other nothing left unsaid

Never seeing past your own forever

Wrapped up something you couldn’t sever

Feeling it wasn’t possible to give more

Yet offering everything out it would pore

Belonging to inside jokes just between two

Reinforcing feelings you both felt you knew

The tangle of limbs made in a late night hug

To unknowing youth, love the perfect drug

* Now we are grown

Having had time to make us both doubt

We don’t know what it’s all about

Time moves and hearts become hard

Chances we’re more prone to discard

The inevitable fact life gets in the way

Letting things we wanted get away

The effort of healing from past trials

You just have to cover up with fake smiles

Scenes from the past cloud your eyes

Colours emotions the start of a personal demise

Beginning to judge people from past events

Still working on getting out the emotional dents

But what is left if we don’t dare to hope?

To drift down that regretful lonely slope

What is left if we close ourselves off to chance?

Maybe its not wise to judge a situation at first glance
