Where Are You? Poem by kimberly craig

Where Are You?

where are you?
i have exhausted all the possibilities
did you ever exist at all?
i have a habit of making memories
out of nothingness
is that what you are, or were
as the case may be
i've heard of vanishing without a trace
but this is utterly ridiculous
i search for you everywhere
i jump when the phone trills
it's deafening note
only to be disappointed
i wait patiently for you to appear
scratching on my window
late at night
begging me to run with you
and i will gladly go
because i love you
