Where'D You Go? Poem by Thomas DuBois

Where'D You Go?

I travel back, to a place at home
A place, where dead souls roam
I visit a stranger, so close to me
I visit my dad, down on my knees
You left me a boy, now I am a man
I never did know you, I still don’t understand
Why did you leave, where did you go
Why do I have to be all alone?

Troubled by memories that don’t make sense
Trying to be a man, but as weak as a kid
The struggle goes on, no answers I find

More questions are coming, they crowd my mind
They engulf my head, and like a wave they crash down
My reason to write, my fire to live
So sad that you’re gone, but I think I’ll live
