Where the Meadow Bleeds
Shakil Ahmed
I am not defeated, nor forsaken by the ways of life.
I am still a vibrant soul with utmost strength and vigour.
When I suffer from pain and regret, I never bow down before the world,
like a timid fawn in a blind forest wagging its tail.
Often I crumble and fall to the dust like a lifeless carcass.
I don't surrender to ominous forces like a lisping baby.
I strive hard to rise like a ravenous lion from the fallen pit.
I begin afresh with a rejuvenating spirit, like a tree after a catastrophic tempest.
I never let someone else call me a coward or influence my decisions.
The world is a beautiful place to live carefree, like a mighty rhinoceros,
enjoying the bliss of life and overshadowing the unwanted vibes.
I long to live like a river flowing every moment, breaking all barriers of mundane life.
I wish to murmur like the maddening waves of twilight,
sweeping aside all the lurking obstacles of the selfish world.
I wish to be a dazzling fire, carving my name across the pages of silence.
I yearn deliberately to burn myself in the pyre of selfless love.
I bloom with dreams and sing like a bird in the forsaken forest,
shaking off all congealed fears of ghostly night.
I am resolved to rewrite the chronicles of humanity tinged with love and affection.
I have built a castle to live like a twittering bird where the meadow bleeds.
