Where You Belong Poem by shannon wright

Where You Belong

the night drags on forever yet I dread the rising of the sun.
because in the light I can see that you still aren’t here.
the man in the moon holds no answers to my questions
he just stares back with his slack-jawed blankness
with my back turned I can pretend you are there
lying beside me, safely here beside me, where you belong.
