While Engaged Poem by Daniel Y.

While Engaged

I feel like capgras.
What happened to my family?
It's like they're all possessed.
My mother’s face like Janus.
Her words are doubly so.
Selling me indulgences.
Reaping what I sow.
Quoting at me scripture.
Ripping me apart.
Attacking my better half.
Shooting arrows at my heart.
So I do the only thing I can and run.
Anathema.
I never wanted to be one of those family members.
But it's so sad.
We're not even catholic.
