Whisper To The Moon Poem by Leria Hawkins

Whisper To The Moon

Date: June 10,2008
By: Sandra Hamrick

I'll whisper to the moon, Sweetheart
Whilst swooning peacefully toward midnight
The breathless confessions of our moonlit dance
Confided only to the stars of forever

So fear not the consequence of your appetence
As, I lay claim only to the flames of your desire
For in them, the secrets of our likeness was born
To flourish full in the bloom of affinity

Just once my love, let me peel away the layers
Of your tightly shrouded heart
Allow yourself a moment of my affection
Without guilt, or remorse, or indecision

For, in my snow white world of illusion
I see the sweet shadow, of your surrender
Caressing me in the full passion of affirmation
As I lay bare beneath the fire of provocation

Dare not to worry so, my Sweet
As our intimacy will never reveal the truth
It will forever veil its ardor, in the haven of an abstract affair
Too fearful to face the power of loves existence

So live and give only for the moment
For it shall fade as fleetingly as a teardrop
Leaving only a tinge of the sweetest memories
To stain the innermost regions of your heart

Lay soft beside me and fill me with your dreams
In the pinnacle of our time together
Only my eyes will reveal the songs that sing
Of my love for you, and the passion that I can't hide

Concede only to the truth of your nature
Have faith that our blending will not fetter
For when the dawning wakes upon you
As fleeting as yesterday's breath, I will have gone…
