White Raven Poem by Mark Heathcote

White Raven

White raven,
How did you come by your plumage?
Did you do some charitable acts of kindness?
Did you do a thoughtless good deed?
White raven, where's your nest?
Is it resting on a mountain ledge of snow?

White raven,
Who has been unfaithful today?
Who do you spy on tonight?
Do you have far to go?
Until you know you are home.

White raven,
What prophecies are you making?
Radar on - how many lost souls
Have you carried, like, crusts of bread?
White raven,
It's said you are the ghost of a murdered soul.

White raven,
What insights do you have, if any, into the afterlife?
Is there a raft to another shore?
White raven, do we have somewhere else to go?
Will you one day lead us home?
