White-Washed Tombs Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

White-Washed Tombs

How well we feign holiness that's seen
Like white-washed tombs so bright
Inside lies soul decay and gangrene
We manage to hide from everyone's sight.

But the tongue exposes the evil within
Malice and Slander, and Hate for others-
Not knowing this covers just like all Sin
As equal in transgression as Murder.

The heart is deceitful above all things
Quick to point fingers but being in the dark,
God is Sovereign and He knows all things
He'll deal with us justly what our deeds will mark.
