Who Am I? - Poem by Abdul-Ali Muhammad

I am what I am and can't change what I am
But can anybody tell me why I am?--
I'm of all things--
And all things are of me--
I'm of the light--
And the light is of me--
But still you don't see
I was born to die--not live--
But to give all of me
I'm part of all things--
But all things are not part of me
I'm part of you--But are you part of me?
If you come with me--
You too will see that I follow that light from across the sea.
