Who Am I? Poem by Joy Davis

I stare into the darkness
the sky lit with no stars
clouds causes the moon's disappearance
and as my soul begins to fade
i see your face once more
your smile lights the sky
and my eyes see the stars
hope flutters through my torn soul
my heart jumps into my throat

i say your name
your smile fades
my heart stops
please, please dont leave me again
hold me, love me, be with me
i see our love crushed beneath your feet

your face disappears
and i feel a tear
slide down my cheek
wiping my face i see red

what is this? who are you?
who am i to love you?

my tears are falling
and i dont know who i am
inside, everything is gone
