Who Are You? - Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

see me up in the spot didn't notice you at all
posted in the mirror lost within my own thrall
I feel so good tonight, life has got me so high
everyone in here might be cruising
still your facts have not be proven
all in my face like can you let me breathe
I know you like the image,
death in your heart, the pathetic seethes

eyes up, staring into me, how I'm looking?
putting me to sleep like you reading bedtime stories
just tell me why you are so obsessed
I got nothing for you, no need to explain
just tell me why you are so obsessed

drop the act cause the act got tired
director say cut with a performance so-so
average at best, charismas required
you ain't dealt with someone like this
I don't understand it but my name keep rolling off your tongue
cause when you see this apple bottom you stay a little strung
you light me like a blunt and I take you higher
kecey on your mind bet that fix is fire

I don't know you
Really, who are you though?
I don't know you
Really, who are you though?

drop the act liar. yeah, won't you please
drop the act liar. yeah, won't you please
you don't have anything kecey want or needs
took you just an hour to make something up
what you've insinuated is uncharacteristic of
me and now I'm thinking heavy so vexed and blown
oh, you so uncomfortable, I don't give a fuhh
you struck up a match got the fire started
buried six feet under now long departed

they talk about me
I just want to tell you
that you ain't quite
nowhere what I like
they talk about me
I just want to tell you
that what I like
listen what I like
lives here deep inside me

drop the act liar. yeah, won't you please
over here, getting ready, fixing up my hair
story prints and it hits newsstands everywhere
story prints and it hits, it left me so impaired
public show got the cameras flashing
reporters wanting coverage many questions asking
red in the face, people talking trash
chauffer of this circus have just crashed

whoa, there, bet you didn't think karma would catch up
whoa, there, now you're salty cause I show you no love
took you just an hour to make something up
what you've insinuated is uncharacteristic of
