Who Are You? Poem by Serena Blackinton

Who Are You?

Who are you when the sun rises
inflicting light upon a sleepy world
and who are you when the bird surprises
chirping loudly as his wings unfurl?

Who are you as the day looms bright
chasing the last remnant of dream
or when you type away into the night
are you really as you seem?

Who are you when you go to work
ready to attack any set task...
what responsibilities do you adopt or shirk
and do you hide there behind a mask?

Who is it who talks to me seductively
trying to gain my undying affection
and who uses time so productively
as to ensure everlasting attention?

Which is the real you
and not some shadowy facade?
I'd like to think I'd know it too,
But it's just too damned hard! !
