Whoever First Said Poem by Francis Duggan

Whoever First Said

Whoever first said the good only die young
Did have a lapse of what is known as a slip of the tongue
Those who believe such a saying believe in a lie
Since many good people quite aged when they die

Many good people die young and in their life's prime
At an early age they does run out of time
Between good and bad life's Reaper does not differentiate
We are born into life to with death have a date

That many criminals die young so happens to be
And that the good do not live to grow old only a fallacy
Good and bad people are dying every day
Except for suicide cases on how long we live we do not have a say

Us humans return to earth like the deciduous leaves of the Fall
And on that the good only die young there is no truth at all
No truth in the saying the good only die young would you not agree?
To the good and the bad death comes eventually.
