Whose Truth Is It We Are To Believe Poem by Raymond Farrell

Whose Truth Is It We Are To Believe

Whose truth is it we are to believe
The European version glorifying their bringing of civilization
To the Americas, and the suffering this was able to relieve
Or what the Aztecs, Incas, Mayas, Cherokee and others remember
The truth of conquest and destruction of culture
The disease and slavery that resulted
First, with Columbus and then with those that followed
Truth is like putty in the hands of its manipulators
Though historians and those who report the news
Always claim to be truthful, and unbiased
Time seldom reveals this to be the case.
