Why Poem by Jackie Chou

Why

My friend, why are you so sad?
Why are you so cold?
I'm an amethyst gem.
I have purpled your world every way I can,
Let you nestle in the warmth of my starbeams.
Why won't you look into my eyes or say thank you?
Why won't you spread your wings?
It's easier for me to fly a paper crane.
Why do you drench yourself in sorrow?
Why is your heart made of granite?
