Why Do We So Much Need To Be Remembered? Poem by Shalom Freedman

Why Do We So Much Need To Be Remembered?

Rating: 5.0

Why do we so much need to be remembered?
Why is it so important to us,
That when we are no longer here
Others will somehow think of us?
Why can't we understand and accept
That just like billions gone before
We will one day be forgotten?
Why too are we the only creature we know of
Who cares so much for this?
And why do we care when we know too
That the time will come
When all we have given and all we have done
And all we are and all we passed on to others
All all
Will be no more?
Why when we know we will die
Do we still need to feel somehow we will not?

This why is quite intriguing and reflects a human weakness imbibed in human nature by the Creator Himself to remind us, time and again, that we are not perfect and lack something to be so. Thanks for sharing a thought provoking reality.10 points.

A wonderful poem beautifully expressed. The truth is hard to swallow but it must be.
