Why Does A Great Land Mass Poem by james watkin

Why Does A Great Land Mass

Why does a great land mass
Stress a firm roots' upthrust?
To buttress it, as if
Falling off its own cliff!

Yes, and gull-billed warnings
At its roads' thinning end!
Snarling threat's steep decline
For all they underline!

Whalebone, skeletal forms
Of buoyancy spat out -
Foam, tongues, and beyond - see!
The indomitable Sea.
