Why I Left Poem by Randy McClave

Why I Left

I loved her with all of my heart
And I knew that she loved me deeply as well,
I swore to God that her and I would never part
But, she constantly put me through hell.
She would start fights with me all of the time
But, when she needed money or help I was always there,
She treated me like a culprit in a crime
Anyplace or at anytime and/ or anywhere.
I was so happy that we were brought together
I truly believed that God had created her just for me,
We were two birds of the same feather
And I knew that without a doubt she was my destiny.
I now remember how she had lied
And the times that she told others she didn't know who I was,
I though was always so proud when she was at my side
I never knew why she did or said the things she does.
We shared the same thoughts and bath and bed
I then became the happiest man in the world,
At night upon my chest she always placed her loving head
But, in the morning insults at me she still hurled.
One day finally reality showed up and it sat in
I then realized to her I was just a simple toy and a wallet and a pawn,
She wanted me to lose and not to ever succeed or to win
Then when I turned around, she was then gone.
I was just a pawn in a game that she had played
Which always included her lies, cheating and bereft,
Now no longer will I ever ponder why I never stayed
Instead, I will always remember why I had left.
