Why I Love You Poem by zaheer uddin

Why I Love You

I've looked at you a thousand times
and wonder why i love you.
Is it because of the face so fine or
the mystery that surrounds you

I Love you not for the beauty of your face
but for the fountain of love that flows beneath

. I love you not for the eyes that shine
like twinkling stars
but for the trust they seek in me

I Love you not for your rich deep laughter
that fills the air with music
but for the spirit that sings
in the heart so pure

I love you not for your innocent charm
nor for magic of those long tresses
that million dollar smile -

I love you not for your headsrong worldly self
the strong resolve to fight it all
that proud head held up high-

But i love you for the child in you
which craves to be pampered, possessed, protected
which still sulks over butterflies
that flew away from the little palms
and sand castles that were washed away
by the heartless waves - -
