Why Praise I Thee Poem by Mahathi Mydavolu

Why Praise I Thee

Why praise I thee O secret spirit,
and why obey I shall thy writ?
Is it because thou're idle, vain
and bound in human cage, yet feign
as infinite with cosmic wit?

Thy form when can't thee exhibit,
and qail to wield thy mystic grit
to save the righteous souls from worldly pain
why praise I thee?

Thee preen as everywhere, in whit
and lot, as pneuma implicit
and boast of fair legerdemain...
but reaped we nev'r such holy gain!
why praise I thee?
