Why The Grass Is Greener Poem by Randy McClave

Why The Grass Is Greener

I look at my neighbor's yard
So, very lush and green,
But, why is their grass so beautiful (I wandered)
And mine cannot be seen.
Dandelions are growing wild
And there are many barren spots,
I take care of my lawn whenever I can
But, the trees and hedges rots.
With worries I have trodden
Upon my very own worn green, green grass,
Until there was nothing left standing
As I walk upon my newly formed dirt path.
Why is their life better than mine
I still feel so angry and disgraced,
As I looked over again in my neighbors yard
As on my lawn once again, I paced.
I then grabbed myself a handful of my dirt
I then slowly let it run from my hand,
Our yards are no way different
Are we not known from where we stand.
Then I look and l think about my life
I then compare it with my yard,
I once had happiness, contentment and no envy
But, those beliefs I stupidly did discard.
The grass is not always greener
On the other side of the fence,
But, that is where the grass is watered
And life isn't so worried and tense.
