Why The Tears Come So Often Now - Poem by Shalom Freedman
WHY THE TEARS COME SO OFTEN NOW
Why the tears come so often now
I don’t really know
Is it for all the friends lost?
Is it for all the people I have known
Who have already died?
Is it just my being old,
And near the end?
Is it for the sick friends?
I don’t know why
But now so much more often
Just any beauty
The beauty of a song
The beauty of seeing some simple scene of nature
Brings the tears-
Why do tears come so often now
Why is life which can be so beautiful
Always always passing?

Heartfelt recollection of departed nears and dears, friends and times. It has given so much pain that the thought of a thing of beauty, a soulful song or the beauty of nature bring tears and not solace. Very poignant aspect of life. Thanks. (Report) Reply
very sad and too bad when we human, who have the six senses, get older within sixty and seventy years of our young life span...when we are young we gain so many experiences but we regret and miss those memories when we are old..well written poem on old age... (Report) Reply
