Why Won'T It Leave Me Poem by Jane Z

Why Won'T It Leave Me

I linger here
My soul paved and set.
Our past distant there
Where we first met.

So many times I wander
past the places we've been
so to rid of your essence
that is uncontrollably etched in me

Five years gone by
I gaze up, ever persistent
My heart so frantic
Re establishes my empty existence

Our first awkward hug
seared in my mind.
With intent of ever
letting go.

Drenched in tears
This agony pierces through
Daunting past persists

Why won't it leave me.
