When the forsaken city starts to burn,
after the men and children have fled,
stand still, silent as prey, and slowly turn

back. Behold the curse. Stay and mourn
the collapsing doorways, the unbroken bread

Powerful! It transported me to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I bear witness to the destruction of that city decades later; but the beautiful spirit of the people, I could never fully capture in words. Their distinct energy was very profound. Thank you for sharing.
