Wild Flowers Poem by Alexander Thomas

Wild Flowers

With bright dawn, birdsong, flora and dew,
And lambs and rabbits and squirrels too,
As all the world flourishes is as my love for you!
Our love springs and towers as the wild flowers,
Fondling in the bowers in this daydream of ours,
We'll cherish rich golden hours,

In coneflower, yarrow, buttercup and foxglove,
In the fervour of ravishing, ravishing love,
In dandelion, clover, poppy and primrose,
Surging feelings rush as the wind blows,
The heart speeds to go where passion leads,
To run, run into fields of reeds!

The summer yearns as the midday sun burns,
In the heath, in the heath
adorned with a flowery wreath,
To glide in the breeze as a gentle leaf!
Through the thickets, through the thickets
leaping with the crickets,
My heart dwells where the bluebells sow their spells,
And the sliver teardrop wells,

Where the brimstone and peacock butterflies flock,
Enraptured by showers of multicoloured flowers,
Rolling in a tangled mass of soft, soft grass,
To lounge lazy as a drifting daisy,
Rest and settle my precious petal,
Let's just stay here forever my dear!
