Wild Horses Poem by Alexander Thomas

Wild Horses

Rating: 3.5

Fighting the tide,
Chasing the fire inside,
Wild horses run,
Into the burning sun,
Across drifting golden sand,
Driven by a vigorous hand,
Crashing through waves,
Freedom is what the soul craves,
On the sea breeze,
A scent of you to tease,
We share the same beach,
But are always out of reach,
We can only be free,
When one another we see,
It's all in the stare,
And the flick of the hair,
You are the hot sweat on my back,
The reins that cut me no slack,
Now we are alive,
For love we should strive,
And fight death,
With each passionate breath,
I'm watching the sand in the hour glass fall,
As we continue to stall,
A race against time,
As the sand continues to climb,
If you show me your love is true,
I will run to you,
If I lost my way,
Then beside me come and lay,
For eternity I would wait,
But shifting sand will make it too late,
The wish has been made,
And the course already laid,
Let's unshackle ourselves of strife,
And jubilantly share this life.
