Will We Remain Friends Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Will We Remain Friends

You call me your friend
You say for always
But do you only mean for now
until me, away you send

You say, have no fear
You mean me kindness
Or at least you say.
Will you stay with me here?

You stay for a while
and chat so kindly
Care for me blindly
and make me smile

I wish I could somehow meet you
and hold you close
My life is not one of freedom
Yet, you wish me to not be so blue

How would we greet
Would you find me ugly
Or attractive
If, we ever do meet

Are your hands soft and warm
Will they heal me with their touch
and make me feel wanted
Will I feel you inner charm

Will we get to walk
and maybe go hiking
Skiing, skating, dancing or biking
Will we smile when we talk

Will you wipe my tears
If you should see them forming
and whisper sweet comments
Will you know inside that I'm trying

Will we feel close enough
To allow from each other a kiss
Will we feel our hearts beating
And care even if times are rough

I feel so alone now
And inside I'm hurting
So for now I love your friendship
and occsaional flirting

Will you remain
Or will you go away
Because if you leave
I dread the pain

Of losing a friend
I have found in you
With the kindness and care you bring
Away, you I could not send

So I'll just be me
And you'll just be you
And promises I won't make
For fear hearts might break
