Windy And Raining In Illowa Today Poem by Francis Duggan

Windy And Raining In Illowa Today

The sun it is hidden behind clouds of gray
It is windy and raining in Illowa today
The long dry spell is over at least for awhile
And the farmer does greet the rain with a big smile
The tiny frogs singing in every pond and drain
Suppose this is their way of welcoming the rain
Though the paddocks quite green of rain they are in need
This rain to the land very welcome indeed
And the warbling flute like notes are so pleasant to hear
Of the magpies who sing every day of the year
And sheltering on a low branch of a eucalypt tree
The magpie lark sings his familiar pee wee
Behind the gray clouds the sun hidden away
It is windy and raining in Illowa today.
