Winter Comes Poem by Carolyn Brunelle

Winter Comes

Coppers, reds,
Deep bronzes and golds,
Surrender gracefully
Their time and boldness
In Autumn’s last chilly dance.
Brisk, vernal winds
Toss them to and fro
In an engaging icy flourish
To let them know
Winter is taking the lead.
Stale and expiring colors
That will revive in a new fall,
Dutifully fade to their slumber,
When winter comes to call.
