Winters of love keep passing away
freezing every lake, river and bay;
the cold evokes a feeling necessitating warmth
and provoking togetherness by acceptance
as the chill keeps biting into the skin
while the nose keeps struggling
to breathe the cold air
life cannot desist such infliction.
The winter gets so challenging
as the snowfall triggers a shivering;
lips get blisters, feet feel numb,
yet nothing stops man from surviving
the routine of time and the ordeals of life!
Winter though cold promotes various reactions
lovers rush indoors to light the fireplace
and to drink coffee for warmth and solace;
children keep running to school
wishing the sun will show its face
and provide them a chance to run and race.
The old keep holding on to their blankets
as the cold weather is punishing to some,
and refreshing to others;
winter is a season when hearts pound heavier
with age and resistance.
Those who are lonely rush to pubs
they sit there sipping beer, watching television;
while some keep watching out of the window
at the snowflakes that keep falling,
some go early to bed without complaining.
And as the winter passes away
by its own momentum, life moves on
while the fireplace struggles
to keep everyone warm and cheerful
whether they are young or bold
whether they are infants or old.
The bare trees, the snow-clad mountains
indicate to man and woman
to re-stream their frozen dreams
and find courage to walk over
the bridge of hardships to seek fulfillment
as all seasons keep reminding everyone
that the turning clock of time
waits for no man, no reason or rhyme
to change life's aura or ambiance.
For, man has to live by warmth and intimacy
for, man has to survive by adjustments and empathy.
Winter O Winter, will you ever stop being cold
winter O winter, will you ever stop speaking of love?
