Chill chill, thrill thrill
Winter's grand display
First touch of frost and snow
Chasing warmth away.
Then breeze breeze, freeze freeze
Winter sings a song
Hard to walk the frozen edge
Where do the poor belong?
Birds sing, woods ring
Winter, winter, chill
Bird's feathers dance in pure delight
How shall humans sing their fill?
Fallen leaves along the path
Under blankets gray
Old Dame Winter comes along
In her loving way.
Winter dances, leaps and bounds
White and wild and free
Kingdom of the icy clouds
Falling now for me.
Winter's here, winter's here
In a coat of white
Breezes blow from time to time
Giving chills of night.
Winter comes, winter comes
With a stirring sound
Freezing cold, freezing cold
No end can be found.
Flowing stream, frozen stream
In a rhythmic chill
Eyes grow dim with heavy fog
Doubt is lingering still.
Trembling all the shivering night
Soft as winter wool
Boatmen shake in hands and feet
Making sorrow full.
