Wish Upon A Girl (Reposted, I Added The Beautiful Story) Poem by Eldin Durant van der Walt

Wish Upon A Girl (Reposted, I Added The Beautiful Story)

Rating: 5.0

I must have spent a thousand nights
Covered only by the milky way
Catching every falling star
Hoping for a wish in return

I seek not beauty, just kindness
I shall not keep you in a cage for the world to see
I shall give you wings so you can see the world
Your every journey shall be wind filled sails

When the wind lies
I shall fill them with my own breath

I shall gather a thousand fireflies to lit your way
I shall have the bees bring you honey to quench your thirst
I shall have the birds pave your path with rose petals
Your destiny shall be my charge

My wish is not to have your heart
My wish is for you to have my heart

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I reposted this poem because of the beautiful story it shares. I wrote it in July 2008, since then my wish was answered. I got married to her two years ago and it was not long before we fell pregnant and my beautiful baby boy turned one year old two weeks ago. I met the love of my life barely a month after writing this poem, on my 30th birthday. I have never been happier. This wish did come true.

Love comes through shining in this poem. And it's nice you added the story in the notes. All the best to you and yours!
