Wishing well
Is a neat concept
Conceived centuries ago
Implemented in places we go.
Maybe a still pond
A reservoir of water
Or a springing fountain
Serve as well
For spontaneous reaction
To throw a coin
Or two or more
Meditate a while
And make a wish.
Trevi Fountain in Rome
Snow White Wells in California
Hong Kong or Tokyo
Or traditional ones
In Upwey of Weymouth
Or Park Estate in Missoorie
Fountain of Peterhof in St. Petersburg
Qiangiu Pavillion in Beijing
Or many others across continents
Wherever it may be
A wish is a wish
Expecting some good to happen.
I throw a coin
And make my wish
Let everyone keep
Good health always
And work hard to bring
Progress and peace
In the world we live in.
