Wishing You There Poem by Kayla Daley

Wishing You There

I was there without you
Watching them dance in their fancy shoes
Wishing you there
But that was a wish that could not be granted - not there
I sat in my lonely chair for awhile
Without a smile
Holding back the unwanted tears
And my scream that I did not want to hear in my ears
Then by myself - without you- I danced with my friends
That was my fairy tale ending- of all the possible ends
Because only once upon a time
Is only once upon a time
You can never get it back no matter how hard you try
or how hard you cry
Because you can only make up for it in the future
To build a better love - of stronger structure
