(with) ...Dignity! And,Identity Intact Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

(with) ...Dignity! And,Identity Intact

To break it down.
With each piece to put together.
From my understanding,
How for me my insight began.

I have obligated my interest,
As a writer and poet.
To know this to be who I am.
Also one of African descent.
Expressing my sentiments.
Done to do from my point of view.
Delusion free.
And living the fact of that.

Without being distracted to fantasize,
My life yo live would be more satisfying...
If my mind had been filled with wishes,
To be something other than who I am.
With that to keep as a main attraction.
However...
Never have I lived to wish and exist,
Looking for ways to betray my ancestors.
Or my heritage proud to display it.

Okay?
Any questions?
Doubts?
Or...
How about,
Those intimidating, insinuating...
Instigating comments,
I await to hear heard made!
